What is the longest amount of time you have ever held your breath?
Survey Says:
1 minute 48 seconds
It was over a minute but I can't remember how long. I used to sit in class and hold my breath and watch the clock on the wall.
I hold my breath for nothing...does that mean I'm cynical?
I used to could hold it for 50 yards in the pool
the entire '72 election, so like 3 or 4 minutes
Now, why would I want to do that?
Analysis:
Personally, I enjoy the metaphor.

What is your favorite sound?
Survey Says:
Rain in the leaves
My dog's tail thump when he wakes me up
Rain
I like the tail wagging too - hard to beat the sound of a happy puppy!
My little brother's voice
Rain against a window pane
Ding! The sound my computer makes when I gain a level in World of Warcraft!
The low register of a cello
Analysis:
Hm. A somewhat unsurprising pattern, I suppose.

What is your favorite gift you've ever received?
Survey Says:
my digital canon rebel XP...it literally brought me to tears
My husband arranged for our friend to choreograph a Regency Country Dance for my 30th B'day party - that was pretty amazing. Both thoughtful and SO fun!
Anything my Uncle Bob has ever given me. He has the magic touch for gift giving. Most recently he got me a GPS.
A fleecy blanket made by my old babysitter who found the same pattern as my worn out old baby pillows that I was still sleeping with at the time.
My violin and camera equipment.
All the children of the world holding hands and singing in the spirit of peace and harmony
Analysis:
Nothing particularly out of the ordinary here, though mildly interesting. Perhaps I should post a more inspired question tomorrow. It is Monday, after all.

What TV Show do you think best represents your generation:
Survey Says:
my So-called Life
Carebears...or Captain Planet
All in the Family
Saved by the Bell (2)
Seinfeld, of course! Although Three's Company helped me to define myself.
How I met your mother (2)
Analysis:
Not many surprises here...though Friends was suspiciously absent from the list. That might be my vote. I wonder at the answers had I not only asked in digital formats via facebook, ichat and other web based media.

How many of the U.S. State Capitals can you name?
Survey says:
All 50
"Missouri gets me every time"
"wow. I've never felt so dumb. Thanks"
50 without missing a beat
two
Just the obvious ones like New York. Oh, wait...
Less than you
The one that I think should be disqualified since no one has ever heard of it is Frankfort, KY. Seriously, has anyone ever been to Frankfort, KY?
Analysis:
Really, I was just curious on this one.
The thing I actually found most curious, though, is how few people actually answered it. Those that did were extremes (mostly either all 50 or 2). I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that those who didn't answer it are either on the "closer to 2" end, or just didn't feel up to counting. Or intentionally embarrassing themselves. At any rate, I know between 45-50 depending on the day, but this is thanks to my second grade teacher who tested us on it, taking away 5 out of 100 points for each incorrect answer (which, I argued, was mathematically unfair since we could have ended up with a negative score, even having answered some correctly). I missed three. Blasted B. At least it eventually resulted in this pointless question and diatribe!

If you were a dessert, what would you be?
Survey Says:
Rhubarb Pie
Cherries Jubilee; soaked in alcohol and on fire, baby!
Molten lava chocolate cake - who wouldn't want to be ooey and gooey?
a funfetti cupcake!
Strawberry shortcake because I love it!
"LOL, I thought you were asking which desert I would be. Clearly the Gobi. But if I were a dessert... one of those chocolate truffles rolled in red chili powder."
"I think I might be one of those samplers of mini-desserts with a bite of something chocolate, two tropical sorbets and a mini creme brulee. Is that a cop-out? Well, it's my question, so I guess it doesn't matter"
strawberry tart...sweet and sassy!
a chocolate chip cookie
Gluten-free chocolate cake with strawberries on top
"Frankly, after I take a girl out on a nice dinner date, I tend to be treated as dessert... as is. ;-)"
Analysis:
Okay, this one is actually pretty fun. I was informed, however, that it requires too much thought for a Monday, and that I should follow the lead of the NYT crossword puzzle and start easy, getting progressively more challenging throughout the week. Additional input on this practice - and the difficulty level of the RQoDs - is welcome.
IN CONCLUSION: lots of people see themselves as strawberry.
And Just one more time: WHERE DO I FIND YOU PEOPLE?

What do you believe in?
Survey Says:
Pancakes
Magic in a young girl's heart
Turtles, Chickens and Apostles
God, Liberty, and potential for pure evil present in human beings.
putting Kahlua in my coffee
french toast (hereby beginning a holy war with the Pancakians)
a 20 oz New York strip
Santa Claus
"Wait, I believe in Chickens, too!"
The goodness of people
Analysis:
I must admit, I'm surprised by how many people believe in food. Perhaps a new religion is in order. Or, alternately, perhaps this is a sign of the impending apocalypse.
